Background:
Mikael Anttinen received his Doctor of Medical Science degree in the field of Medical Sciences and Pharmacy from the University of Turku in 2021. The degree was completed in Surgery and included the doctoral dissertation entitled “Novel imaging and image-guided therapy of prostate cancer”. Anttinen´s doctoral thesis was approved with distinction and was also awarded among the ten best and impactful dissertations in Finland in 2021 by Mediuutiset, a Finnish medical magazine.
After graduating as a specialist in urology in 2018 he successfully completed the European Board of Urology written and oral examinations and was conferred the title of the Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU) in 2019. Besides clinical work Mikael Anttinen has worked as a clinical teacher in surgery at the University of Turku and as an independent researcher in the Turku HIFU centre. He is currently working as a specialist in urologist in the Department of Urology at the Turku University Hospital, primarily in the field of urological cancers.
Mikael Anttinen has played a significant role in launching the TULSA treatment pathway and participated in almost every TULSA treatment performed in Turku University Hospital. He conducts research on prostate cancer imaging and treatment of prostate disease with TULSA method. He has several peer-reviewed publications on these topics.
